Waltzing with the Light
A Choreography of Care & Renewal
Waltzing with the Light: A Choreography of Care & Renewal
Dust bunny tumbleweeds breeze through sunbeams on my living room floor—a less beautiful reality than the poetry might suggest.
Early on Saturdays, I take time to sweep before anyone in my house wakes. I chase lost popcorn kernels, crumbs, and cat hair across the floor while wisps of wind whisper in through the open front door—setting the dance in motion.
The sun is a spotlight, pouring through lace curtains pulled back from the east-facing window, where two strings of clear crystals dangle like small disco balls.
As morning light appears from beyond nearby houses and trees, glimmers catch in the crystal prisms and shatter into rainbow slivers all around me.
Grateful for this moment, I pause to give thanks for the awe of light’s beauty.
In step, my broom and I waltz with the glow. Rainbow slivers circle in a meditative dance around the room. The magic of care fills empty space. My mind quiets as the room clears of what the week left behind.
Open to the moment, I surrender to this spell, letting it fill me with sunlight and wonder—clean of last week’s clutter—
open to whatever the day and the new week may bring.
