What moved me here is the refusal to make the void comforting. You let it remain what it is, and still choose to love the rose while it blooms. That feels more honest than hope forced too quickly onto grief.
Thank you for noticing that. Yes, I experience the void as absence, so comfort feels like the wrong language for it. I understand the impulse to give it purpose or agency, yet even that seems to soften something experienced as absolute. Perhaps that is what creates such tension in the psyche. We long to understand what will never ask to be understood.
