We're Unsafe Here

Original Music Video

Song-writing is emotionally exhausting but gives my writing voice and sound. The videos I create using Canva give visual context to my poetry. Together, it animates the motion and emotion I feel when writing. I’m truly enjoying this new-found form of expression. I’ve also been learning chords on my guitar so I can start playing the music myself instead of using the computer to create the music I hear in my mind accompanying my words... baby steps!

Description:

“We’re Unsafe Here” is an original song by Michelle Ried confronting the harsh realities of the U.S. immigration crisis, ICE raids, and bounty hunters abducting people in their own neighborhoods. It’s a raw protest against systemic violence, dehumanization, and the fear forced onto families just trying to survive. If you think you’re safe, think again—this is a call to stand united and refuse to look away.
