This song came to me today after something I experienced at the grocery store. A mother was trying to pay while her baby crawled away, and not one person stepped in to help. People just stood there watching like it was a tv show, a TikTok video, or as if they were somehow else removed from the situation. They watched but looked away. My heart broke for the mother and for humanity. So, I asked if I could help, and after she quickly agreed— I picked up her baby and rocked her while she got her things together. This song was born from this and so much more.
At the start of this song, I write from the feeling that music already knows what we’ve forgotten. It’s a language of connection, a code that connects us—buried in our souls. That’s why I’ve started writing my poems and essays as music. It’s my hope and intention to help us remember the love inside us, to reconnect with each other in a deeper way. Music has a way of reaching us where words alone can’t. It resonates and reminds us of our oneness.
Love Rules is a call to come back to each other. To choose compassion and to live with servant hearts instead of shutting down or turning away. The world’s been heavy, but love—real love—still rules.
This took me 14 hours to write and create, but I couldn’t stop once I started. I hope you enjoy it.
Care. Don’t look away.
With Love,
💖 Michelle

Love Rules – by Michelle Ried Born to be connected, heart and soul. In the rhythm of music’s easy flow. Feel the oneness that we already know! Ohh It’s here, in music feel what love knows… Love rules by the golden rule… not by the golden crown of a hateful fool. Love rules in a servant’s heart. (In a servant’s heart. Yaa…) Love rules in a servant’s heart. (In a servant’s heart. Yaa…) Care. Don’t look away. Care. Don’t look away. Heyyy… yaaa… yaaa While at the grocery store today, an overwhelmed mother was trying to pay, when her baby started to crawl away. People watched—no one moved, just turned away. What is happening in the world today? How did we forget to love in this way? Asked if I could help—rocked her baby on my hip—soothing all her worries away. Love rules by the golden rule… not by the golden crown of a hateful fool. Love rules in a servant’s heart. (In a servant’s heart. Yaa…) Love rules in a servant’s heart. (In a servant’s heart. Yaa…) Care. Don’t look away. Heyyy… yaaa… yaaa, yaaa We’ve felt far too much trauma, fear, and pain. In response, we shut down and look away. We’ve come to learn, this is how we sustain. But we can’t go on living this way. Come back to community. Heyyyyy. Love rules by the golden rule… not by the golden crown of a hateful fool. Love rules in a servant’s heart. (In a servant’s heart. Yaa…) Love rules in a servant’s heart. (In a servant’s heart. Yaa…) Only servant hearts crown queens and kings. Care. Don’t look away. Hey, Now, that’s what I’m saying… Love rules... (In a servant’s heart. Yaa…)
